Hunter Week 4: I love to see the temple.

Good afternoon everyone! We just got back from our Temple trip with our Zone at the Bountiful Temple, so now I can finally email y’all! It’s been a great week! We had a lot of good things happen here in our area in West Valley! We had two baptisms Saturday which was ballin’! The first was a special needs guy who wanted to pass the sacrament and be more involved. So he started meeting the missionaries and got baptized! It was awesome! The second was a guy who had been meeting with missionaries for over a year and a half roughly. He is from Vietnam and was living in California near San Diego but now lives in Utah. Most of his family. however are still in Cali. So he got baptized, and it was great to see all the previous missionaries that could come to his baptism. We had 2 RM’s and a few still active missionaries. So that was great to have those two baptisms!

We also went to Temple Square again with a less active guy we are working with which was a great opportunity. It was a lot of fun! Also, I had exchanges this week. I was with Elder Penfold leading our area and we had a great time together. It’s always fun to switch things up every now and then so we did great together. We have been doing great here in the area and we have a good bit of people on date for baptism and in fact we should have one this Saturday as well that I will let y’all know about next week. I’m also excited for Christmas, to call home and all that! It’s been a really good transfer here, and I hope I get to stay here for a while! We should get snow today, but we’ll see. haha! Hunter Week 3: Elder Ballard Visit

Good Morning! We had a great week here in West Valley, and we had a lot of things happen. We had Zone Conference Tuesday which was a lot of fun. We talked a lot about the Book of Mormon, and we had a guy come in and do a little presentation of it for us. So, it was a really fun Zone Conference, and I learned a lot from it. We also had out interviews with our mission president, President Palmer. It is always fantastic to talk with him because he gives me some great counsel and support.

Regarding the work, we have found a few new investigators in our area. It’s been great here in the Hunter/Hunter East Stake and meeting all the wonderful people in this area. We have taken a few families downtown to see the Christmas lights at Temple Square. It’s been a lot of fun to go down and enjoy the lights and to get to know some of these families.

Probably one of the coolest things that has happen this week was an incredible visit from Elder Ballard from the 12 Apostles! Our entire mission was there to hear from him and Elder Duncan from the Seventy. It was amazing to hear from them. They talked about mainly the Restoration of the Gospel and finding people to teach. It was a great lesson for all of us. I definitely learned a lot from Elder Ballard. They also did a little bit of Q&A with us as well. We all got the opportunity to shake their hands, and it was just awesome!

So, this week was great and I’m excited for this Christmas season. I’m doing very well here in this new area and with my new companion. Thank y’all for everything and for your support! I hope everyone is having a great week, and God bless you!

Hunter Week 2: It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Good morning everyone! This week has been great! We got some good snowfall yesterday and last night. So it’s in the 30’s this morning. This past week has been pretty good. We started our Light the World campaign which has been a lot of fun especially now since we can share it via social media. We recently went downtown to see the Temple Square lights which was a lot of fun! We have a couple of planned trips this transfer that we will be going downtown to see the lights with the people we are working with! So, I’m looking forward to that! For our service this week in part of Light the World stuff we helped someone move out of their home and we trimmed the rose bushes out front of our house for the lady that we live with. So it’s been a lot of fun helping people the best we can.

We have recently dropped a few people in our area so the work is in a little bit of a slump right now, but with the people we are working with we are doing really well. We watched the Christmas Devotional as well last night with one of our stake presidents in the Hunter Stake. It was a lot of fun watching it with him and getting to know him. Afterwards, we had a really good discussion and had root beer floats. haha! The work is moving along and hopefully we should have some baptisms coming up this month. So, I’m excited for that. Other than that the work is doing good and I’m having a good time here in the Salt Lake Valley. I hope everyone else is having a good week!
