Hello! It’s Elder Bowie’s mom, Ginger! We aren’t exactly sure how the mission blog will work. Hopefully, Elder Bowie will be able to update the blog himself once he’s in the field. In the meantime, you have me! :) This past week has been a roller coaster of emotions for our family. We are so proud & happy & excited for Zachary to serve a mission & at the same time our hearts are breaking just a little bit at the thought of not seeing him for two whole years. It’s a sacrifice our family is willing to make! We know the blessings the Gospel of Jesus Christ has brought to our lives, and we know it can bless the lives of so many others. We are so grateful for the opportunity for Zach to share this awesome message with those in the Salt Lake City West mission. On Monday night at 9:30 pm Zachary was set apart as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by our stake president, Pres. Chandler. Pres. Chandler encouraged us to go home & write down the things that were said in the blessing. So we did! Zach wanted me to type them up & post them here.

~ Zach would be able to touch & teach people to the core
~ Zach will become stronger both spiritually & physically
~ Zach will have a special connection to his mission president
~ he would be a guide
~ he will be able to go to his mission president when he has worries or concerns
~ he will learn to open his mouth & bring others closer to Christ
~ he will have physical strength even when ill
~ he will gain an even greater testimony of the Gospel
~ his family relationships will become even stronger
~ his letters will be uplifting to his family
~ he will gain a greater understanding of the Lord’s hand in the work
~ he will be a help to his companions
~ he will develop better communication skills
~ you will be physically fit
~ he will teach our family
~ he will connect with those he teaches
~ he will be closer to the scriptures
~ he will know that he was meant to serve in the Salt Lake City West Mission through the people he teaches
~ your will learn to take care of your body (energy)
After Zach was set apart, Pres. Chandler said I usually don’t do this, but would you like to receive a blessing? President Chandler assisted by Clay & Zach gave me a beautiful mother’s blessing. He said that I would have peace & that my sacrifice was acceptable to the Lord.
Oh how I love this man ~ Elder Bowie! You are extraordinary! It’s an honor to be your mom!
